Clearing Up Common Misconceptions
There are many stereotypes built around people with disabilities that can make a person with a disability feel dissatisfied or discouraged with who they are. The most common misconceptions include:
-People with disabilities can’t live independently.
-All disabilities can be see with the eye.
-Having a disability decreases happiness in life.
-A person with a disability is all they are.
However, these misconceptions are not true at all. We plan to make it known in our documentary that these claims are false. In reality, people with disabilities CAN live on their own, have jobs, and make their own decisions. Even though it is always nice to have help they are capable of doing things independently. Also, some disabilities like mental and learning disabilities are not visible like physical disabilities are. A disability does not fully make up a person’s identity they can live happy, successful, and fulfilling lives just like any ordinary person.
