Facts About Disabilities

 -1 in 4 adults in the United States have some kind of disability.

-Disabilities can be physical, mental, developmental, or intellectual.

-People who have disabilities are more likely to experience discrimination and barriers in school and employment.

-Accessibility helps to create equal opportunity for people with disabilities. This can include ramps, captions, and accommodations.

-The law called Americans with Disabilities Act helps protect the rights of people who have disabilities.

-Not all disabilities are visible.

-Physical disabilities can result from cerebral palsy, spinal cord injuries, and amputations. Physical disabilities are long lasting and they may be born with it. 

-Mental disabilities affects the way a person thinks, feels, and their mood and behavior. 

-People with intellectual disabilities can have difficulties with communication, interacting with others, and they may have different interests compared to others around that age.
